In this month’s Hot Blog entry, we invite you to connect with your inner nerd and read “The Nerdy Nurse” blog. Although this site isn’t strictly for travel nurses, we still think it’s a must-read. Here are just a few reasons why:

The site is fully owned and operated by an RN

Brittany Wilson, BSN, RN is the Nerdy Nurse. She started the blog in 2010 and has since become an award-winning author, blogger, keynote speaker, and influencer within the healthcare industry. Brittany’s nursing experience covers several specialties, including med surg, clinical informatics system administration and implementation, and healthcare community management.

The Nerdy Nurse is constantly ranked among the top nursing blogs

And for good reason — the blog’s content deftly covers a range of today’s hot-button industry topics, from nursing issues, resources, and gadgets, to technology, social media, and empowerment. According to her About page, Brittany is also passionate about technology and nursing informatics, so you could say electronic medical records or EMRs are her thing. This nursing specialty is relatively new. If it appeals to you, you should check out her post on “How to Get a Job in Nursing Informatics.”

The blog has a store with recommended nurse gear

Do you need new scrubs or compression socks? Looking for a recommendation on comfy nurse shoes? Look no further because the Nerdy Nurse has your back. This site has a store full of tried-and-true nursing products from various affiliates just for you or your nurse friends. Even if you don’t have time to read the articles, the store alone is worth the click.

Brittany’s wry sense of humor and tell-it-like-it-is attitude make for some great blog posts. As you read, you’ll probably find yourself nodding in agreement or laughing at Brittany’s relatable nursing stories. Until next time on our Hot Blog series, we hope you read, learn, and enjoy The Nerdy Nurse!
