Summer is a wonderful time to get out and explore. The weather’s beautiful, days are longer, and new possibilities are just around the corner. As a Travel Nurse, your next summer destination can be both work and play. Read on for some fun summer ideas while you’re on assignment!

Soak Up the Sun

If your assignment is anywhere near the beach, you know what to do! Swim, surf, and sunbathe to your heart’s content. If no beaches are in sight, no worries: you can still get a big dose of Vitamin D at your local pool. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!

Browse the Farmers Markets

One of the great perks of being a Travel Nurse is getting to live like a local. And what better way to take in the tastes and textures of your assignment than the farmers market? Plus, the fresh fruits and veggies make healthy eating easy and cost-effective. There are lots of free samples, too!

Relax at the Park

An easy-going stroll through the park is always a great way to relax and decompress after a long day. And nothing says summer like a picture-perfect picnic in the park. In a more active mood? Grab a partner for a spirited tennis match or a round of disc golf.

Jam Out at a Music Festival

Just picture yourself basking in the warm summer air, singing along to your favorite songs with your fellow music-lovers beside you. Summer is when many bands hit the road for unforgettable performances. Check out these amazing music festivals happening this year all over the country.

Join an Athletic League

Sometimes the best way to let off some steam is to get competitive! Athletic leagues are perfect for making fast friends while getting a healthy dose of exercise. The nice thing for Travel Nurses is that summer leagues typically overlap with your assignment duration, which makes joining an easy commitment. Try looking for volleyball, ultimate frisbee, or kickball leagues in your area.

Be a Matinee Maniac

Is it too hot to go outside? Summer is the ideal time to hit the (air-conditioned!) movies. By working outside the typical nine-to-five work schedule, you can take in the best summer blockbusters at cheaper matinee pricing. You’ll love having the theater all to yourself!
